Courses numbered in the 500s originate in our Conference Interpreting department, generally as part of our Conference Interpreting Certificate Program.
A Court Interpreting Certificate from VCC was the launching point for most of the conference interpreters starting their careers in Vancouver between about 1982 and 2012. That was because the VCC program had the only multilingual simultaneous interpreter training in Canada during that time.
The VanSIT Conference Interpreting program will begin late in 2017 after our first Court Interpreters graduate. A court interpreting certificate from either VCC or VanSIT will not be necessary for admission to the conference interpreting program but will be deemed sufficient for admission without further testing or experience.
