Take as much as you want… Some people want to study every facet of their profession and take every available course. Some people are curious about the profession or the process and explore it in depth. Some people want to become accredited to work in court and therefore have to develop a portfolio of credentials.
…or as little as you need. Some people need to take an occasional course to meet the professional development requirements of their association. Some people have been working for years as interpreters but feel a bit uncomfortable about some aspect of their job performance. Other people don't even want to be interpreters but need to know how interpreters function as part of their job.
Course numbering often gives a clue as to which department originated each course. When a course is required by a program outside the department which first created it the course number is retained.
"Consecutive:" means consecutive interpreting – sometimes shortened to "Consec".
"Simultaneous:" means simultaneous interpreting – normally cut down to just plain "Simo".
